2pm - 4pm

Memorial Park, Sierra Madre

A special event designed to inspire young people in civic engagement. The purpose of this event is to promote interest in politics and civic engagement among young people and inspire them to consider running for office in the future. It will give students the opportunity to express their beliefs openly, practice persuasive writing and inspire their community through public speaking.

We are inviting students from numerous cities in and around Pasadena to compete in a mock mayoral campaign speech contest in two divisions: middle school and high school. Based on a panel of judges, cash prices will be awarded to 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place winners. The panel of judges will be made up of individuals associated with non-partisan groups. Contestants will have their photo taken with an elected official from their city of residence. Contestants must submit their 3 min written speech by June 30, 2025. Contestant application is located at www.tinyurl.com/youthspeechcontest2025. Advertising opportunities on our event program are available here https://tinyurl.com/youthspeechcontest2025promo.  The event is free to the public. We are actively promoting the event to schools in and around Pasadena to gain participation from middle school and high school students. Invitations are being sent to the mayor and city councilmembers of Altadena, Arcadia, Glendale, Monrovia, Pasadena, San Marino, Sierra Madre, Temple City as well as other local elected officials.
