Day of Peace & Open Mic
Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025
4:00-5:00pm
@ Location TBD
Democrats of Pasadena Foothills is honoring International Day of Peace or World Peace Day by displaying 1000 paper cranes at a location TBD. From the federal military raids and attacks on our community to those around the world, we are calling for peace and safety for all. Let’s stand in solidarity for peace in our community where children can play freely, people can work freely, and families can live freely in peace.
Help to fold paper cranes and donate them so we can reach our goal of 1000 paper cranes by 4pm Sunday, September 21, 2025.

The tradition of 1,000 paper cranes, or Senbazuru, in Japan is rooted in a legend that grants the folder a wish, often for longevity, happiness, or healing. The tradition became a global symbol of peace and hope due to the true story of Sadako Sasaki, a young girl with leukemia after the Hiroshima bombing who tried to fold 1,000 cranes for recovery. Today, people fold cranes for weddings, as get-well wishes, or to honor victims of tragedy, and the act itself is seen as meditative and a testament to hope and perseverance.
Help us grant our collective wish for peace.
